There’s not a lot of wall space in my tiny place for art, so I decided a while back that I’d create a gallery wall on with what little vertical real estate that I have and have some fun with the art in my space. I have a couple of photographs that really mean a lot to me. This one is the first ‘big girl’ art purchase that I ever made. I’ve written about it before when I got it re-framed, it’s been over ten years and I’m still just as in love with it as the moment I first…

our dreams, and our ideas about what’s possible
I have all kinds of dreams, some are super huge, like dreaming of buying a big old building and restoring the whole thing, and others might seem small, like just hearing the voice of a friend who I haven’t seen in forever, but they don’t mean an ounce less to me. So today, as I take some time to reconnect with my own creativity and dreams, I’m sharing some of my thoughts about having dreams, and one of my ‘biggest’, with you. I’ve noticed that we often regulate, or limit, our dreams, to things that we can somehow imagine being…
what we sacrifice in the name of ‘being nice’
I really loved this article from the Good Men Project that I saw the other day. It resonated with me on a lot of levels – the message is definitely just as relevant for women as it is for men – so check it out, enjoy. Hopefully you will be as inspired as I was. I write a lot about being able to have, and create, what you want in your physical space but also in the rest of your life. What touched me about this article is really thinking about all of the times we might be sacrificing parts…
a gift so bad it’s good
I am not ashamed to say that I was more than a little excited to learn that my endlessly loud and also late night door slamming downstairs neighbor was moving out. She’s a sweet girl, but this chick hasn’t had a solid night’s sleep in a long while… so I was surprised and thought it was really sweet when on moving day she told me she had this great bird statue that she couldn’t fit into the last box to take with her and said that she thought it would look really great in my patio garden and asked if…
final touches on the patio, and tuning in to your intuition
While building the planter was a big DIY adventure for me and there was a distinct finish line to be crossed with that part of the project alone, the patio as a whole isn’t quite complete yet. I went ahead and splurged on the amazing mint green chairs, but I still need a few final touches before it’s officially done. Namely, a side table-ish something, some pillows, a throw maybe… you know, the fluff that makes it feel cozy and like you can really settle in and relax. I think that this photo of the chair subconsciously inspired me to…
apartment design progress // the waiting game
Even when you start a project ‘early’, it can feel like you are waiting forever for everything to arrive and get put in its place so that you can settle in. Add your sofa not fitting through the door to that equation and if Belinda isn’t frustrated from all this waiting, then I’m frustrated for her! But we really have made a lot of progress… and in just a few weeks we’ll turn around and suddenly everything will be in its place – also known as: my favorite part of every project. So what is this place going to look…
