My big real estate ‘regret’…

When we think something is impossible, is it really? Or is it just not possible for us because we think it’s impossible? The more years I’m here on this big round ball of air and water, the more I’m realizing that so much of what we think and feel and believe is just programmed into us day after day, second after second, for most of our lives… it’s not right or wrong, it’s just what we know… and if that way of seeing the world isn’t working ~ ie. we think things that we really want are impossible… or that…

In the meantime… coat closet/pantry design and inspiration

While we live in our semi done/undone kitchen and wait {for what feels like an eternity} for our kitchen cabinets, there are still a million things to be done to keep making progress in our cute little abode. The next thing I want to tackle is the coat closet right inside the front door of our place. Here is the coat closet {side note: I can’t believe I didn’t take a shot of the doors from directly in front of it, argh! I guess you always miss something when trying to cover all of the ‘before’ pics…} I have to say,…

The kitchen design, and the one cabinet decision that almost broke me.

We are getting closer and closer to go time… the kitchen cabinets should be shipping the first week of April and I have plenty of things I still need to do. Anyone know where to get a super sexy black kitchen faucet?? Given that we will have had at least a month of waiting while the cabinets were being fabricated, there are no excuses for not being ready when they actually get here! So what’s our kitchen actually going to look like?! I’ve shared my inspiration images for the kitchen, and now I’m finally sharing the actual finishes we’ve picked…

Where would you live based on your house style?

Happy Friday! This week has been a complete whirlwind. There are still a million decisions to be made for our renovation, but it’s also the busiest season at work so with working around the clock seven days a week I feel like we aren’t really making any real progress at our place, which is a bummer. I know it will all come together, but I do need to find time to finalize counter decision and buy important things like our sink and faucet like ~ stat! But in the meantime I need a break so let’s talk about something fun……

What’s the market really like right now, and how to have success as a buyer

{photo credit: McAlpine Tankersly Architecture} Hi there! I’ve been a little pre-occupied with our renovation lately, but we are in full spring work mode over here and I today I wanted to talk about something that I get lots of questions from people about all of the time ~ what’s the real estate market like right now? And how can someone possibly have success in this market?! Honestly, I get tons of questions all the time, they are all great questions and before I got into real estate I had no idea where to go to get answers for any of…

The totally boring things I couldn’t be more excited about in our new place

It’s official, I’m middle aged. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with that, I’ve never been happier and I’m super stoked about what I’m doing and creating in my life these days. But I will say that the things that I get excited about now are very different than what I got excited about in my twenties, lol. When we first moved in to our new place, I literally laid down to ‘hug’ our brand new beautiful hardwood floors in excitement, and I couldn’t help but laugh at myself. I was SO excited. About floors. But let me tell…

Accepting the Learning Curve of Our First Renovation and what I’m learning along the way…

This is what my ‘in progress’ kitchen actually looks like right now. It’s not pretty, and it’s not super fun to live in. I had been a bit naively optimistic in hoping that could stack up the kitchen boxes and make a usable ‘counter’ space on top of them until our actual cabinets come, which clearly isn’t happening. Right now we have no dishwasher and only 24″ of usable counter space, if that. It’s definitely not our dream kitchen scenario! I knew we’d have plenty of curve balls and surprises during this renovation, but one thing that’s been kind of…

How We’re Transforming Our Kitchen

From the first time we walked through our new place and I saw the kitchen layout, I knew exactly how I would transform the space. I have no idea what I’m doing in some other areas of the house, but I am very clear on what is happening to this space, and it’s a good thing since we ended up getting started with this part of our renovation a wee bit {a lot} earlier than we had initially planned. So what are we doing in there?! Here is the plan of the space when we bought it. The kitchen is…
