Stay at Home Happy Hour Recipes

Today on over on the gram I shared some (for the moment virtual) happy hour recipes, I definitely need some just for fun creative things going on so I'm making a new cocktail recipe every week (I mean, with this stay-at-home order I don't want to drink so much wine that I start hating it - is that even possible?! Not gonna find out, ha!)

When it comes to cocktails I'm a big fan of elderflower anything, and I'm on the search for the perfect rosé cocktail as well. Here are some great recipes that are on my list to try out... let me know if you give any a whirl, or if you have any favorites send them my way!

Pretty in Pink

  • 1 double shot of vodka

  • 1 single shot elderflower (St. Germain or bust!)

  • juice from half a ruby red grapefruit (I won't judge you if you use already bottled juice, it's a pandemic, we're all just doing our best over here!)

  • juice from half a lemon (this one I will judge you, bottled lemon juice just isn't the same! do the work, squeeze the lemon, trust me.)

Shake, pour over ice, garnish with rosemary because we need all the fancy we can get, and enjoy!

Recipe from Rachel Ray's book My Year in Meals.

Elderflower Smash

  • 4 or 5 mint leaves

  • 2 ounces gin

  • 1 1/2 ounces St-Germain elderflower liqueur

  • juice of half a lemon

  • 3 dashes of bitters

Shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker, strain into glass, garnish up with some fresh mint leaves and enjoy!

One of my absolute favorite cocktails is from Maude's Liquor Bar, it's a light magical elderflower and grapefruit drink, I have two recipes that are similar so I'm combining them for this next one...

I'm going to be playing around with these trying to get as close to possible to that delicious wonder...

Grapefruit Elderflower and Vodka

Elderflower Cocktail (version 1)

  • 2 oz gin {or you can sub vodka}

  • 2 oz grapefruit juice

  • 1 oz St. Germain

  • garnish ~ fresh sprig of rosemary, tarragon, lavender or sage

Shake in a cocktail shaker, strain, garnish

Elderflower Cocktail (version 2)

  • 1 oz St. Germain

  • 1 oz gin

  • 1 oz Ruby Red grapefruit juice

  • 1 oz cranberry juice

  • lemon peel for garnish

Shake in cocktail shaker, strain, garnish with lemon

Elderflower Cocktail (version 3)

  • 2 oz vodka (gin would work too)

  • 1 oz elderflower liquor (recommended: St. Germain)

  • 1-2 oz fresh squeezed pink grapefruit juice, strained

  • ¼ oz fresh squeezed lemon juice

  • ¼ oz rosemary simple syrup

  • rosemary or grapefruit slice for garnish

To make the Rosemary simple syrup:
add two medium sprigs of fresh rosemary to 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water.
Bring to simmer and stir until sugar dissolves.
Turn off heat and allow it to steep for 30 minutes until it cools.
Remove rosemary and store in an airtight jar in refrigerator).

Stir in ice and strain, add garnish and enjoy.

Am I the only one who wants to make all three and do a taste test?!
...and last but not least is my quest for the perfect rosé cocktail, this recipe is next on my list to try.

Rosé Royale

  • 1.5 oz Lillet rosé

  • 0.5 oz fresh grapefruit juice

  • 0.5 oz sugar syrup

  • 1 egg white

  • 3 oz champagne

I won't lie, the egg white is freaking me out a little but I'm gonna give it a go and see how it tastes!

Pour rosé, grapefruit juice, simple syrup and egg white in a shaker, shake until good and cold, strain and top with champagne. Add garnish {flowers, lemon or grapefruit slice... get creative!}

Enjoy!

If you have any favorites you think I should try, let me know!
